Recently, John Downs sold my home on Anderson Road in Pomfret Center CT. The entire process took less than two months from listing to closing. John was professional, proactive and on top of every aspect of the process from helping us find craftsman to make repairs so that the property would show best, to an impressive electronic marketing campaign, to negotiating the deal. The negotiations were particularly important as the process took us through three price points and added $28,000 the final sales price. We closed for $528,000 which was within $10,000 of our listing price. Last summer we were presented with an amazing opportunity, the chance to buy a truly historic estate at a very attractive price. However, with that opportunity came a bunch of complications. We needed to sell our business to fund the transaction. We needed to rent or sell our existing property. We needed to start planning for a renovation project. Regarding John Downs -

I must say the idea of hiring a real estate agent to sell my house / plant farm was not something I was looking forward to. 

John had a write up in the paper and I noticed that there seemed to be Boston roots so I thought I would give them a call.

John Downs showed up and as luck would have it he had purchased some Lilacs from me in the past. He seemed like a good straight guy who would return phone calls promptly, be smart, and be ethical. I believe honesty is always the best policy.

I would like to take this opportunity to highly recommend John Downs as the Realtor of Choice. I hired John to sell my property located at 1290 Route 169 in Woodstock, Ct in an extremely depressed real estate market. The property, a colonial reproduction, was built for resale in the sense that the buyer could customize the interior to their own taste. At that point the house was approximately seventy percent complete and John was the third realtor to list the property. John basically did everything imaginable to get the property the most exposure possible in the real estate market. In the first month John showed the property more than the previous two realtors combined. John understood the history of the property, my desire to sell the property and accepted the challenge. At all times he was professional and communicated to me feed back from potential buyers as showings occurred. He was an exceptional sounding board as to what we should do to further promote the property. As I presented different ideas to him to get the property to sell, he used his many years of experience to either agree with me or to tell me that in this market climate the implementation of that idea would be a waste of money. He would always share with me why something might not work to sell the property and as a result, it is my belief that John saved me several thousand dollars by listening to and accepting his judgment.

Given the uniqueness of my property, the current slump in the real estate market and the excess supply of properties in the Woodstock area, I felt that my property sold relatively quickly and I attribute this to John’s aggressive marketing strategies.
